Disease has become a major problem in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Much of the country lives in poverty and this has resulted in over 70% of the population being malnourished. This is in addition to 80% of the population not having access to clean water and 79% having little or no health insurance. The country has suffered heavily from diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV, and cholera to name a few. Still yet is the most deadly disease to those who live in the Democratic Republic of Congo, malaria. Malaria has accounted for more than 40% of child deaths, and treatment remains far too expensive for most families. The Democratic Republic of Congo is one of the most at risk countries for diseases and disease continues to be a major cause of death.
