Letters from Congo

“My father was dad in the genocide in Rwanda in 1994. He was buried alive. Mother also is dead. I can’t remember when she passed away. I was too young. We are two, on girl and one boy. I live in Mumosho (east of DRC). I would like to be a doctor. I would like to study as other kids, eat every day, be clean and well dressed.”
This was written by a first grader named Justin who lives in Congo. He is one of four kids that all wrote about their lives and what it’s like to live in the conflicts of Congo. The website Letters From Congo is the website that posted these stories on October 9, 2011. The website introduces this kids and the organization Kids 4 Congo Kids, which is an organization based on kids in the US doing good deeds to help sponsor kids that are less fortunate who live in Congo. These kids all right about how awful the conflicts in Congo are, and how many of them lose there parents of siblings. Kids 4 Congo Kids tries to educate the American people about the organization in hope to gain supporters and more help to help the kids in Congo. These letters are important because if gives a large understanding of life in Congo, along with giving the views of what children think about it and how it has such a large impact on them. Kids in Congo have no way of avoiding the problems that happen everyday, and everyday is a struggle for them to stay alive.
